40 Acres Fresh Market Bathroom Signs
Environmental Graphics
40 Acres Fresh Market is a grocery store located in the Austin neighborhood on the west side of Chicago. I worked with the owner to design bathroom signage in time for the store's grand opening. The goal for this project was to encourage cleanliness among guests and staff by making the market's public restrooms feel comfortable and hospitable.

Early Concepts
To complement the existing interior design and branding elements, the signs featured typography and illustrations inspired by vintage needlepoint crafts. One of the main challenges was incorporating stylization while prioritizing legibility and accessibility. These early designs demonstrate issues with hierarchy and readability, which needed to be addressed in order for the work to remain functional.

Final Signs
In the final designs, I developed custom typography for each of the signs. This ensured that the messaging was still legible for the audience, while still taking inspiration from traditional needlepoint lettering designs. I also reworked several of the illustrations to enhance clarity within the limitations of the needlepoint canvas format.
