The Challenge
To explore the expressive and technical possibilities of digital image-making through a series of experimental visual studies. I was tasked with creating compositions that engage different visual strategies based on a theme: Visual Noise.
This meant using texture, type, color, and layering to create dense, expressive images that break the rules in order to say something loud or emotional. Through this project, I aimed to develop fluency in Photoshop and Illustrator, engage in experimental design methods, and create conceptually driven work.
I used a multitude of sketches, scans, and photographs to add a unique, handmade dimension to my work. Throughout my process, I explored the ways digital and analog techniques can be incorporated together to create richer, more engaging visuals.

Texture Studies: Iterations

Pattern Studies: Iterations

Final Composition Iterations
My final compositions were based on the category of Constructed Realities. The goal was to compose surreal visual worlds through unexpected image combinations, using composition and manipulation to create imaginative, uncanny, and dreamlike scenes.

Final Work and Figma Prototyping
I then created a responsive Figma prototype to display my final patterns, textures, and compositions in an immersive and engaging web experience.
Check out the complete Figma prototype here.
